• Thomson (1856-1940): Physicist. Discovered the electron. Nobel Prize in Physics.
• Planck (1858-1947): Physicist. Founder of quantum physics. His work on black body radiation lead to the discovery of the Planck constant. Nobel Prize in Physics.
• Rutherford (1871-1937): Chemist. ‘Father of nuclear physics’. Discovered the small positively charged nucleus (= proton) of the hydrogen atom. Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
